Welcome to 2008

In all we are looking forward to a very full and exciting year.  The photos of class pieces will be available at the end of January.  Class deposits for registration can me mailed to our address or sent via credit card and e-mail.  There is a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold your class.  Class numbers are limited this year so registration is by date received.  Last year our 2007 seminars filled in 2 weeks so do not delay!

Sampler

3 new techniques and styles.  This year we will add a small landscape Venice scene with a floral border.  We will also study Marquetry Graining and finish with a Global technique that combines Chippendale and Dutch Painting.

Santa Class

Some of you have seen this piece.  A beautiful carved Santa painted in the Russian Fairy Tale style.  A box will also be done.  The back of the Santa features a Palekh Russian Troyka telling the story of Father Frost and the Maiden. 

Designs will be painted on the original carved Santa and a small wood box. 

2008 Small Furniture Class

This year we have two very different styles of painting.  The first is a variation of the Chippendale style with some unique flowers and strokes.  A Chinoiserie border finishes the shelf.  The second style is Flemish textured florals with a baroque scroll border.  Both styles are painted on this wonderful wall shelf that is over 36 inches long and 20 inches high.  It features 2 sliding doors and lots of room for storage. 

2008 Dutch 5 day Seminar

This year we will study Jan Frans van Dael [Flemish Painter, 1764-1840].  I used one of his paintings in the Fitzwilliam Museum as inspiration for this painting but added several other "fields" which will allow us to fully study his version of the flemish technique.  We will be using Global paints in a new casual and "painterly" technique by combining them with the use of soft watercolor brushes.  The brush effects are amazing.
