I want to thank all of you who are following me on my journey as an artist. Together we have explored so many new techniques and styles to keep our brushes and creativity flowing!
 David's Painting of JacquesA couple of weeks ago my study group and I painted Sargent's Jacques Benton which I will be painting with my online S201 Color Theory Class this August. I would like to get it done so those coming to Sidney in September can bring it if they need help. Jacques was only my 2nd portrait. The first one I tried 15 years ago and didn't work out. Now, I understand you don't have to be a portrait painter to paint portraits. Through all my studies of other genre, I have developed a way and it worked.
 Possible Online ClassWe received such an amazing response to my painting of Jacques that I am going to pursue yet another one. This one is by another Sargent era painter and I have always wanted to paint it. I love the mood and colors of the painting. The casual alla prima clothes and refined Victorian era face technique. The question is, do I film it for a class? It takes a tremendous amount of studio time to create online classes and publish DVDs, and it is expensive. I definitely be will be painting her for my own studies. If I receive enough emails, I will devote studio time to show you how I would approach this painting with acrylics and we can do it together. I am thinking about 10 hours of studio filming time which will make the online class around $99. That would cover color tones and the painting of her. S201 Color Theory students will receive a 20% discount on the class because color theory is extremely helpful with these techniques.
